Temporary expression vs. long-term group chats

Some words belong only to the moment, while other matters require ongoing follow-up. Clarify what you want to express and keep before choosing the right space.

Temporary Rooms: Put Today’s Mood Here

Time-limited topic rooms hold the present mood, a small incident, or a thought you want to say. Other participants can see and reply, but there is no obligation for lasting ties.

Rooms exist for at most 24 hours from creation, and may close earlier if disbanded by host, inactivity timeout, or moderation.

Standard messages are delivered only in real-time with no offline history; missed messages will not be backfilled. The current device shows received messages only while the room is open.

Long-term Groups: Serving Ongoing Collaboration and Ties

Long-term groups serve ongoing communication, shared projects, or stable relationships. History retention, member management, and notifications vary by product.

If you need to track tasks, keep critical agreements, or consult archives, choose tools designed for those needs and verify their actual retention and access rules.

Choose with Three Questions

Identify your needs first; no single communication model is the answer to everything.

  • Do I want to talk about today’s feeling, or do I need follow-up next week?
  • Do I need offline access to past messages?
  • Can I accept that this conversation cannot be reviewed after the room ends?

Temporary Does Not Automatically Mean More Private

ODO does not provide end-to-end encryption and cannot prevent participants from taking screenshots, copying, or saving content.

Account, device credentials, membership, and payment info are retained independently from rooms; room closure does not mean these records are deleted.

"Time-limited" describes the room lifecycle. When deciding what to share, you still need to consider participants, screenshots, and actual data processing.
